Nice to hear from you Paul and Sue
I'd recommend People of the Books by Geraldine Brooks for Sue. It's about a conservator who is asked to look at a Jewish prayer book that was found in 1996 in Sarajevo after being saved from the war there. She collects some forensic samples (fibres etc) and as she gets each one analysed the story of the book is told - how the book is made and all its travels through the Spanish Inquisition and other historical times.
I couldn't put it down - a bit of mystery, a bit of history, a bit of heroism, a bit of romance.
It's people of the Book not Books - oops :)
